4: Learning by Doing: The NerdyGirl’s Advice to Creating Content with Personality with Brittany Bullen

What happens when you combine an obsession with helping women succeed and the workings of an introvert performer? You get content with personality!

I’m so excited for today’s episode because I’m having my very first guest on the podcast! Please allow me to introduce the NerdyGirl herself, Brittany Bullen!  Author of the books “Personality Marketing: Join Your Industry’s A-List by Embracing Your Inner Nerd” and “The Crisis of the Ordinary: What to Do If You Secretly Wish for More Than What You’ve Got,” Brittany gets SUPER NERDY about helping her clients, students, and readers follow their enthusiasm in the direction of their dreams.

When she’s not wrangling her four boys at home, you’ll find her talking strategy and sales copy while mashing her clients’ “inner potatoes” until they’re magically delicious.

Brittany saw a need to help women market their talents and services so they can create a business that generates income. That need snowballed into something much larger than what she initially thought.  Now she helps women create the marketing and mindsets they need to get everything they want out of life and business.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • How to show up with an authentic vibe
  • Doing what you love vs. getting paid to work
  • The birth of the ‘nerdy girl’
  • How she turned her process into a book
  • The superpower of persuasion
  • Disconnecting your self-worth from your business accomplishments and failures
  • The power of bringing your family into your vision
  • Figuring out what gives you the greatest fulfillment
  • The misconception with being an introvert performer in business
  • Structure of an effective marketing video
  • The value of joining a network community

The journey of entrepreneurship is a constant process of optimization. Brittany is proof that you don’t have to know everything before you start your business. Embracing your inner nerd is all about leveraging your enthusiasm and learning as you go.

Today’s episode is all about turning our mess into our message.  We will talk about finding your purpose and I found mine. I am going to tell you about one of the lowest points of my life and how I was able to turn it into one of the best things that ever happened to me.

If you are in a place in your life where things are not going well, I want to encourage you to use it as the fuel and fire you need to turn things around once and for all.

I never thought I’d be the entrepreneur I am today. I never realized that I could take control and choose how I live my life…until something happened that changed it all. In this episode, I’m sharing the story of how I found courage through my loss.

Like most moms, I carried a lot of guilt with loving work, but having to be away and feeling like I was not there for my family. There was guilt, too, for not pursuing the career and the ‘ideal’ family I wanted. I made plans in an attempt to take control – but life happens.

When all your plans seem to be falling down around you — when you’re at the lowest point in your life — that’s when you achieve clarity and the courage to take action.

Discover the three a-ha moments that propelled me to be the entrepreneur, mom, and wife I am today. Learn from my pain, mistakes, and breakthroughs so you can fast track your success.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • My childhood and how it shaped my perspective of an ideal family
  • The guilt that comes from loving your work
  • The mistakes I made by trying out different “opportunities”
  • The truth behind network marketing and MLMs
  • The webinar that started my freelancing journey
  • The scariest thing I have ever done
  • Making plans and what to do when life happens
  • The grief that came with my miscarriage and how it pushed me to make a huge change
  • The choices you have to live a life on your terms

I know many of you might feel like you are struggling right now.  You may feel like you have a lack of direction in your life or your business.  I hope this episode inspires you to find the courage and support you need to start living your totally awesome guilt-free life TODAY!

2: Quit Googling How to Make Money From Home: What Worked for Me

Do you have a desire to make money from home? Years ago, my life consisted of constant exhaustion from work, toxic people, and long commutes.  I was also taking care of my kids and the house and my husband was never home.  I desperately wanted something different so I sat down one day and Googled “how to make money from home”.

Yes, I admit, that was me. I was desperate. And that one search led me from one disappointment to another – until I found what worked for me.  The thing that allowed me to be the Free Mama I am today.

In this episode, I will reveal why so many “make money from home” opportunities fail us. I know they do, because I have tried them all. I will also talk about what I discovered that allowed me to quit my job and replace my income in less than a year, working half the hours. And I am lucky enough today to have successfully taught thousands of other moms to do the same.

If you’re into making money, while being an awesome mom, this is one episode you won’t want to miss!

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • How the Free Mama got started
  • The impact that other people can have on your mental health
  • The dilemma that pushed me to Google “make money from home”
  • The truth behind network marketing
  • Lessons I learned from some “work from home” opportunities
  • The webinar that started my freelancing journey
  • Why I believe freelancing is the path to success

I sincerely hope that you take action with what you heard in this episode because it’s time for you to start having control of your time, your life, and your income. Today is your day to get started, mama!

XO,

Lauren

1: Two Years Later: Why I Decided NOW is The Time To Launch Free Mama Radio

Finally! It’s Free Mama Radio launch day! I have been looking forward to this day for SO long! I have been thinking about doing a podcast since I launched the Free Mama Movement in 2017.  If you know anything about me, you know that I am quite the prioritizer and love to achieve goals…. But, they need to be at the right time.  And that time wasn’t right until now!

Like many things in life, things don’t always go as planned.  I thought this launch would go differently than it has.  Clearly, I didn’t expect to be quarantined inside my house with 3 kids and a husband while trying to record these episodes for you.  In life and in business, there are times when you have to get creative and that’s exactly what I had to do.

I am so excited for this podcast to be out in the world because everything about the Free Mama Radio mission comes back to my mission behind the Free Mama Movement. There is a message I was placed here to share….. that no mother should have to choose between family and financial stability.

I grew up with an amazing stay-at-home mom, so I thought that’s what motherhood should look like.  Then, I discovered that I love helping people and challenging myself.  Plus, we needed the income.

Does picking one mean you fail at the other? Does pursuing financial stability mean you are putting your family second?  Can’t I just have it all!?

In this episode of Free Mama Radio, I will talk about what I think being a good mom looks like and how you can be a good mom, while bringing home an income for your family if that’s what you feel called to do. I’m glad I’m no longer torn between choosing one for the other. I created a business I love, on my terms, and so can you.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • The importance of being creative and flexible to achieve your goals
  • The value of living from a wealth and abundance mindset
  • My mission and intention behind Free Mama Radio
  • Being torn between wanting to be a great mom and having a successful career
  • The pain of putting your marriage as a last priority
  • What ‘having it all’ means for me

This podcast is about you and how you show up to achieve your goals as a mom, as a wife, and as an entrepreneur.
