🥶🥶🥶 It’s REALLY cold here 🥶🥶🥶

I’m COLD, mama.

A month ago, we were still running the AC for an hour or two each day in Houston, and now I’m in Kansas City and they’re talking about cold fronts and snow, and I’M COLD.

Before we got here, I thought I had mentally prepared myself for the move.

I knew we were traveling with three kids, two cars, an RV, a cat, and 🎶 a partridge in a pear tree 🎵. How bad could it really be?

I wondered about how fast we could get the Wifi hooked up. More family time!

I figured we’d be sleeping on the floor until we could buy new beds. Good for your back, right?

I pictured the future: a turtle for Henry. A dog. Goats. Chickens!

But you can never imagine ALL the things that are going to happen.

It’s like when you made your plans for 2020. Maybe you thought about what it would be like to leave your 9-5 and be at home.

Or, maybe you worried about finding the right daycare for your little one.

You spent time thinking, worrying, planning, wondering — but you probably didn’t put a single second into thinking about a global pandemic.

(And even if you had, let’s just be honest and admit that none of us could have imagined that this is where we’d be.)

I didn’t spend a lot of time worrying about the things that are out of my control, because… they’re out of my control.  Are you focusing on what you can’t control or what you can control?

I can’t change the fact that it took longer than expected  to get the Wifi installed.

I can’t undo the road construction or RV troubles we hit on the road.

I can’t make it be warmer, and frankly, this weather makes my love of blankets and hoodies seem more normal.

I can see the future ahead of us.

I can see the turtle. And the dog. And the goats.

I can see through winter to spring, and the chickens.

Right where you’re standing, mama, there are a lot of unknowns. There is SO MUCH happening in your life.

And you might be worrying about the wrong things

You can’t control when someone will hire you. But you CAN control how many conversations you have in a day.

You can’t control how your husband will react when you spend time learning. But you CAN control what you decide to do.

The waiting is HARD.

So here’s what I suggest.

Wrap yourself up in a blanket, and think about spring. (Can you tell that I’m COLD?) Think about what is on the other side, waiting for you. Picture it. Speak it into existence.  Know what you can control.

Because it won’t be cold forever.

The chickens will be here before you know it.

P.S. Did you catch Ryann Dowdy’s AMAAAAAZING training in the Facebook group the other day? It’s still there — and you still have time to take advantage of her INCREDIBLE offer for the Free Mama family!
