Are You Ready to Take a Holiday?

Have you ever seen the movie, “The Holiday”?

It’s one of my favorites this time of year.

In a nutshell, it’s a holiday rom-com about two strangers, an American (played by Cameron Diaz) and an English Woman (played by Kate Winslet) who trade houses during the holiday season because they need an escape from their lives.

I love this movie for many reasons (Jude Law in a sweater being just one of them).

But it had me thinking about how this movie is about so much more than running away from relationships gone bad.

We all need to escape our day-to-day lives sometimes. It’s that disruption from our daily routines and habits that can spark awareness, clarity, and transformation.

Kate Winslet didn’t realize the guy she was obsessed with was a jerk until she didn’t have to see him every day, continuously roped in by his manipulative ways. Once she put a few thousand miles between them, she realized how freaking amazing she is and that she deserves better. And she met more than one man who treated her like a queen.

Cameron Diaz literally could not cry or allow herself to feel any real emotions whatsoever until she eliminated the busyness of her fast-paced career and was forced to be with herself.

Life is full of hardships and triggers and people who constantly need us, so it’s easy to get sucked up into patterns and routines. All of a sudden it’s December, and we’re wondering where the time has gone!

Kate and Cameron knew they needed a break to reassess. Everything from how they spend their time, to the people in their lives, to their hopes for the future, and how they treat themselves.

Not just a spa day or lunch with a friend, but physically getting up and going to a new place so they could see their lives differently.

Could you use a “holiday”, Mama?

If so, I’d love to invite you to my hometown, Kansas City.

We are hosting Free Mama Live 2022 on March 25-26 at the Sheraton Overland Park. This is a 2-day IN-PERSON live event for women in business who are ready to gain massive clarity, reignite your spark for why, and discover the path to kick your business into high gear.

Even though there will be no English countryside romance, there will be magic that happens here.

The kind of magic that comes from getting outside of your comfort zone and connecting with people who really get you. There will be action planning, new strategies, personal growth, business networking, and fun.

Life isn’t a rom-com. But it can present you with some amazing opportunities, and this is one of them.

Won’t you take it?

Merry Christmas if you’re celebrating, or cheers to planning a holiday of your own!

I hope to see you in March!
