This Is NOT How I Wanted Things To Go

Have you ever tried to be SuperWoman, Mama?

I’m sure you have… society places super high expectations on us moms, as you well know.

Be a breadwinner, but also be super involved with your kids, and don’t forget to exercise daily, have hobbies, feed your friendships, and love on your spouse. Oh, and keep your house clean and tidy, cook 3 healthy meals a day, and make every birthday and holiday pure magic for your family. But also get enough sleep while you’re at it, you don’t want anyone to think you’re exhausted.

It’s so much. Too much.

Earlier this week that pressure caught up with me. You may have witnessed my public meltdown during my Monday live.

I actually felt so much better after that very real, cathartic display of emotion.

And then… I got sick.

While I’m still waiting for the results of my COVID test, I’m isolating in my bedroom away from my family, and nursing my symptoms (the not being able to smell or taste is bizarre).

When I woke up this morning, worse than yesterday, my first thought was… you are not SuperWoman. I might be fine. It might not be COVID, but I feel awful.

This community is all about helping moms live a totally awesome, guilt-free life. We believe no mother should have to choose between family and financial stability. We believe you can HAVE it all.

But even I know that no one has it all by doing it all.

We have to set boundaries. We have to say no. We have to stop trying to fit into society’s unrealistic expectations and live our own values. We have to take care of ourselves.

And so I have made the gut-wrenching decision to postpone Freelance to Freedom Weekend so that I can:

  1. Model what it looks like not to be the elusive SuperWoman
  2. Rest and focus on my health
  3. Show up when I’m feeling better and serve you at the absolutely highest capacity

The Freelance to Freedom Weekend is about getting things done to create a huge transformation in your business AND life.

And none of that matters if you don’t have your health.

Tickets to this life-changing experience will remain on sale until our new event dates, November 5-6, which means there is still time to join us!

For now, I’m going to stop pretending to be SuperWoman and go climb back in bed.

77: How Fast Are You Failing?

FAILURE! 😧

It’s your worst enemy, right? WRONG.

In today’s podcast, I talk about how failing is possibly the best thing you can do for your business and why there’s no reason to be afraid of it. I hope you stick around as I give you an insider tip as to how you can take your business to the next level!

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • The social media blackout of 2021!
  • Why is failing the greatest thing you could possibly do?
  • Fixed mindset vs. growth mindset

What a way to start off the week! For the second time since I started my lives four years ago, I missed a livestream on Monday. But this was not me failing to do something, this was becasue Facebook failed ME.

There were a lot of people who went into panic mode during the social media black out, but if anything it taught us a lesson in adaptibilty, and showed us how react to things when don’t go the way we planned.

And that’s where the idea of failure comes in. So many Free Mamas struggle with this, and I know I did when I first started this movement. But you need to fail in order to find the solutions that will help your business grow.

So, stop treating failure as the enemy and treat it as the teacher it is! This will switch you from having a fixed mindset- which is resistent to improvement and change, to having a growth mindset- where you will be able to adapt and improve!

We will be tackling this challenge along with many others at our upcoming Freelance to Freedom Weekend. Be sure to join us so you too can be supplied with the tools to succeed!

Be sure to check out the links below, because no matter where you are in your journey, we have something for you. From free training and free YouTube videos to our Facebook group or even the Free Mama Squad, we have so much to help you get the support you need!

Your Sunday Scaries End Here

How’d you feel starting around 5 pm this past Sunday?

Even if you have a hard time remembering what you were doing at 5 pm yesterday…Sundays tend to hit differently. Those emotions aren’t easy to forget because you feel them week after week. After week. Like clockwork.

When will it end? When will you finally be able to STOP dreading Mondays?

Well, the answer is right in front of you!

You can take back control of your life and never have to deal with the Sunday scaries and Monday dread again — at the Freelance to Freedom Weekend next Friday and Saturday, October 15th and 16th.

We can all acknowledge that life has made us feel beaten down, unmotivated, and unsure about things since last year. It’s time to bless and release and move forward.

At the Freelance to Freedom weekend, you’ll get 2 days of live, interactive training that will show you the exact next steps you should take on your journey of starting and growing your virtual business:

👉 How to set a strong foundation so that you know exactly what you’re doing and who you do it for.

👉 The single most effective way to land your first or next client — proven by thousands of successful Free Mamas.

👉 Where to connect with people who are outsourcing and what you have to quit doing if you want them to hire you.

👉 Why it’s so hard to show up as a new business owner — and the painless thing you can do about it to get more clients in the door.

👉 The thing you’re doing right now that’s killing your chances of getting clients.

See, we won’t be pumping you up with nothing but feel-good speeches (although we’ll have a few that will rock your world) — we’re giving you what you need to start taking action right then and there, AND helping you confront and tear down the obstacles and self-defeating beliefs and habits that are in your way.

You have to make the choice though.

You have to decide if you’re okay with staying where you are…or if you’re willing to believe that you’re worth spending 2 days on yourself and your future.

How To Be A Social Media Manager in 2021

Fun fact for you: my very first gig as a freelancer was social media management.

This was alllll the way back in 2014-15 and social media has changed A LOT since then.

Gif by Giphy

This also means that managing a client’s social media for their business is way different now than it used to be. If you’re curious about offering this hot service in your freelancing business and making it a success in 2021 and beyond, then you are definitely in the right place.

When I was a social media manager 7+ years ago, it was all about securing the sale for my clients and obsessing over followers, likes, and comments.

Today, though, that isn’t how it’s done. If you want to be a successful social media manager now, you’ve got to know a few things — and we’re breaking it all down inside of this week’s episode of FreeMamaTV.

P.S. Wondering what my definition of work-life balance is? Check out last week’s episode of Free Mama TV to find out how I manage my constant balancing act and how you can too.

76: 3 Things All Million Dollar Earners Do

What do all million dollar earners have in common?

Probably more than you would think!

In today’s podcast, I talk about the three things I think all successful entrepreneurs have that helped them achieve that high-dollar success! I hope you stick around as I give you a tip at the end as to how you can make one of those steps a lot easier for yourself!

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • Celebrating the Free Mama’s 4th Birthday!
  • The importance of having a mentor
  • Lauren’s pro tip on how to acheive hugh financial success

Before we dive in, I wanted to wish The Free Mama a very happy 4th birthday. It was on September 27, 2017 that this community started and my life (and hopefully yours) has been changed for the better because of it!

After a crazy and exciting week at Funnel Hacking Live 2021, I was inspired for this week’s podcast topic. Having heard all of the speakers (myself included!) I was able to come up with a few things that I believe all successful entrepreneurs that make it to that million-dollar mark have in common.

It all starts with who you surround yourself with! All of these people in the “Two Comma Club” have a community of support and some type of mentor to guide them.

And another thing? They all are decisive in their paths! As Tony Robbins said, “It’s my decisions, not my conditions”.

As long as you are doing these things, and sticking to your decisions, I think you are on track to meeting your financial goals whether they be a thousand or a million!

Be sure to check out the links below, because no matter where you are in your journey, we have something for you. From free training and free YouTube videos to our Facebook group or even the Free Mama Squad, we have so much to help you get the support you need!

Work-Life Balance (IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE?!)

Have you ever worked in a corporate setting and sat through one of those uninspiring “work-life balance” presentations? I’m sorry, but…

Jokes aside, it IS really important for us to keep things in balance. You have to pay attention to your health AND your kids AND your relationships AND your business — which can be exhausting at the best of times. And with a pandemic that’s been up and down, and up and down…working to maintain the balance that’s right for you isn’t just important — it’s critical. So let’s figure this out together…

Balancing your freelancing business and everything else in your life DOESN’T happen by accident — it takes practice, regularly evaluating your priorities, boundaries, and lots more.

Be sure to watch this week’s episode of Free Mama TV and get my best tips to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance. And I promise, it’s not boring.

P.S. Wondering how maternity leave works when you’re self-employed? Watch last week’s episode of Free Mama TV where I give you three great tips for getting through that exciting time!

And don’t forget to subscribe to Free Mama TV so you’re alerted each and every time a new episode drops!

75: Be Bold (A Lesson from Our Kiddos)

Have you ever heard of roller derby?

Well, my 9-year-old sure has. She’s become obsessed! She even has a name picked out for when she starts: “Scream Soda”. All because of a book she read! She is unabashedly excited about something she has never done before and it can’t help me think of all of the things that I overthink.

In today’s podcast, I talk about how we need to conquer our fears and jump headfirst into life in order to get the results we want. I hope you listen along and stay ’til the end because I go through the things I am doing to become just as fearless as my kiddo.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • Channeling the fearlessness of our children
  • Not playing small and taking risks
  • Doing what feels good in the moment

I don’t always throw myself into things like how my daughter does because as an adult- I overthink things! I stick my toe in before jumping in. I know I am not alone in this and I want you to know that we need to take the leap, to take that risk! Because that’s when the reward comes!

It’s all about what feels true to yourself, what feels good in the moment, and I know sometimes forget what that means because I am caught up in how other people see me. But that’s not what life is about.

Life is about showing up and following through. It’s about going full-out!! Don’t be attached to the outcome, be attached to the present and what you can do right now! And yes it may be scary!  But it will be so worth it!

It takes courage and being brave to do hard things. But you’ve had to have courage in order to get where you are now. So, why stop here?

Be sure to check out the links below, because no matter where you are in your journey, we have something for you. From free training and free YouTube videos to our Facebook group or even the Free Mama Squad, we have so much to help you get the support you need!

How To Build A Pandemic – Proof Business

Help Wanted…

FOR YOU

When you drive around your city, how many “Now Hiring” signs do you see? How often do you hear of places being too short-staffed to operate?

When my family and I RV’d across the western half of the country this summer, EVERYWHERE we stopped had a “Help Wanted” sign in the window. Coffee shops, restaurants, stores, gas stations — EVERYWHERE. Pick a place, and there was a cry for help — for new employees.

GIF by Giph

There are more job openings than willing workers these days.

Yes, people are in a hard place with their motivation to move forward and figure out what their post-pandemic life will be like.

I get it, firsthand. I had to reevaluate a lot of things in my personal AND business life to make sure I was still acting in alignment with my core values. My values hadn’t changed, but pretty much everything around me had.

It took a toll on my motivation, when I’m normally the exact opposite.

Are you in a similar boat? You know things need to shift, but you’re struggling with motivation AND you’re ready and willing to start taking productive steps again.

Here’s some great news — there has long been an abundance of opportunities for freelancers.

Now more than ever, business owners DESPERATELY NEED someone trustworthy and diligent to come into their businesses and take tasks off their plates. They’re experiencing a shortage of help, just like the restaurant down the street is.

So, where to start?

1️⃣ First thing first. It’s time to set good habits and make them non-negotiable.

And mama, you already have non-negotiable habits, like taking care of your family because you care about them and have a responsibility to them — even when it’s hard.

Could you devote that same level of significance when it comes to your goals for having your own business, like not having to go back to your job and living the lifestyle you want?

Some people call this your why, but I think it’s better described as getting rooted in whatever it is that makes you really care. What is SO IMPORTANT to you that you can commit to yourself to keep going, even on bad days?

2️⃣ Flip the script.

We tend to think way too big when it comes to changing habits or getting motivated, and then when we waver, we beat ourselves up and take two steps backward.

You can flip the script by adding one good thing to your routine rather than trying to withhold something from yourself.

For example, instead of worrying about taking away an hour of Netflix and scrolling social media, view it as adding 15 minutes here and there of networking online, going for a walk, or asking for help.

3️⃣ Don’t white-blouse it.

I haven’t trademarked this phrase yet, but I may have to. If you start with the thing you HAVE TO HAVE, it’ll feel impossible to find it.

You need clients if you want to have a successful freelancing business, but if you go out hunting for them, you’ll probably find it more difficult than it really is.

Instead of trying to figure out what services you want to offer and get everything perfect first, and THEN trying to find clients who fit that mold…

…FIRST find the need by observing how potential clients are describing their problems and what they’re asking for help with, AND THEN be the solution to those issues.

This method will almost always get clients in the door faster than what most people do when they white-blouse it.

Not everyone will continue to stay down. It might be hard, but you have this chance to get back up, start fresh, and create opportunities for yourself.

I always have your back…do you have yours?
