Level with me. What was it about this Free Mama freelancing life that first excited you?
Was it…
The thought of leaving your 9-5 behind and staying at home with your kiddos?
The chance to contribute to the family’s finances?
The opportunity to do work you love for clients that you love?
All of the above? Something else entirely?
One thing that I know for sure is that you wouldn’t be pursuing freelancing unless you were interested in making money on your terms.
That’s what the Free Mama life is all about.
You’ve put in the work. You’ve read the book. You watch every FreeMamaTV episode.
You’re in the community asking the questions. You’re networking in Facebook groups.
You are just amazing, Mama.
So, let me ask you: how is that plan of yours to make money on your terms going?
If you’re not making the money that you want, contributing the way that you want, or any closer to leaving that 9-5 behind, then you need to mark your calendar for Wednesday, May 27.
Finding a speciality and becoming known for that specialty is one of the fastest and most effective ways to put an end to your freelancing famine.
Because yes, even in a pandemic, there is still a feast of opportunity waiting for you in the world of online freelancing.
And do you want to know one of the most lucrative and in-demand freelancing specialities that you can learn — now or ever?
Copywriting.
Hiring a copywriter was the very first investment I made when the Free Mama Movement was starting to take off.
Why?
Because copywriters help business owners make money. And if you can help business owners make money… they will pay you good money to do it.
In any economy, and especially in the one we’re in now, a good copywriter is one of the most important assets to any business. That’s because writing stuff that helps business owners make money is not a fad… so it never goes out of demand.
And guess what?
You already have experience as a copywriter. You just don’t know it yet.
Which is why I’d like you to join me and my personal copywriter and close friend Abbi Perets on Wednesday May 27. Abbi is pretty famous around these parts for the incredible community she has built over at Successful Freelance Writing Moms. And on the 27th, she’s going to show you how to become a copywriter:
How you can make money by writing for clients, because that’s totally a thing.
Which are the BEST projects you can take on — and how you can charge clients big money (like, $2000, $5000, or even $8000) for a single writing project.
What you can do RIGHT NOW to improve your writing, which will help you get more clients and make more money even if you are not a writer and don’t plan to become one.
So if you’re not making the money you want, and if freelancing is not going as planned, set a reminder so you can learn how to become a copywriter.
Abbi and I will be live inside The Free Mama Movement at 10 am Central Time on May 27. DON’T MISS IT!
P.S. To make it even easier for you, we created an event in the group. If you RSVP here, you’ll get all the reminders for this event on how to become a copywriter! Go do it now!
When’s the last time you barged into someone’s home during dinner, interrupted them in the middle of a story to show them your new belly ring, or shoved them offstage so that you could belt out your favorite show tune?
Never, right?
Well, maybe you’ve committed the online version of some of these social gaffes? Did you realize that social media etiquette for business is a thing?
Check out today’s episode of FreeMamaTV to see the biggest mistakes of social media etiquette for business — and make sure you’re not embarrassing yourself with an online faux pas.
No worries, Mama — we’ve got you covered. Just head over to YouTube and we’ll make sure your manners are perfect.
Today we are chatting about 3 things you must quit to succeed in business and life. I am a total quitter myself. If something isn’t serving me, I know I must quit it if I want to achieve my goals.
Did you know that when you focus on the RIGHT things, you don’t have to do as much? Sounds amazing, right?! As women, many of us are moms, wives, daughters, and friends. And let’s not forget about all of the other roles we play- teachers, cooks, chauffeurs, referees, and piano practice supervisors just to name a few! Many of us take on things that really don’t HAVE to be done. Quit doing that mama!
In Today’s Episode We Discuss:
Quitting things that aren’t serving you
Why we fill our time doing things that make us feel productive
Showing up as the best version of yourself
Comparing yourself to others and why you need to quit
The importance of eliminating distractions
Figuring out the goals and vision for your business
Reframing comparisons into something inspirational
Why you need to stop looking for the “easy” way to success
Managing your expectations about what it takes to be successful
I want you to know that the thing you want will be hard to achieve. Not because it’s hard in and of itself, but because it is going to cause you to expand as a human. And that’s a great thing!
The thing that is on the other side of your comfort zone, will feel hard and uncomfortable. I challenge you to push through. That is where true growth happens. You might not feel like you are in a tough place right now mama, but I know you will get to the other side.
I truly believe that there is more opportunity than ever for you to create the type of life that you want. Please stop doing those things that aren’t serving you. Stop looking for the easy way and I think that you’ll find that your goals are actually a lot closer than you may have thought!

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s MAY, and it’s time to take stock of all those goals you set for yourself back in January.
I know, I know, pandemic, homeschooling, crisis — all true. BUT. There IS a solid process you can use to make sure you HIT the goals you set for yourself even when things are crazy. And if you can master that process now, imagine how you’ll rock it out when we’re done with all the crazy.
I started thinking about all the things I was supposed to do and the places I was going to go…
Utah, to speak at the amazing Kathryn Jones’ live event.
Idaho, to speak on stage and celebrate the live launch of Traffic Secrets with my Internet crush, Russell Brunson.
Oklahoma, to visit Justin’s mother.
I watched my kids have quarantine birthdays, which — let’s be honest — suck. It’s no fun to not have a party and be the center of attention when you’re turning 6 or 8… or 34.
We have no idea if our RV trip is still on.
We have no idea if swim team is happening.
If you know me, I’m all about finding the win-win-win, and with Coronavirus, it feels like everything is lose, lose, lose, and that’s… frustrating.
So, yes. I threw myself a bit of a pity party. I let myself feel sad for Kathryn and Russell and Justin’s mom, and Daphne and Henry and Audrey and Justin…
…and for myself.
There may have been ice cream and wine.
I took my hour to sulk.
And then it was time to pick myself up and move on.
As much as it pains me to say it, there are things in this world that are out of my control, and it’s about learning to adjust. For a Type A++++ mama, that’s a hard pill to swallow.
Here’s the thing, though. I don’t let those things define me. Sure, I can’t control the Coronavirus. Yeah, if we can’t go on our RV trip, it will be disappointing. I might even use some words, in the shower, where my children can’t hear me.
But that doesn’t mean we’ll never go on an RV trip.
I guess what I’m trying to say, mama, is that just because you don’t get to [fill in the blank with the thing that Coronavirus took from you] right now, doesn’t mean that you never will. You WILL get there — but it will probably look a little bit different from the way you imagined it.
It’s okay to feel your feelings, and to be disappointed, and to indulge yourself with your treat of choice.
P.S. Don’t miss out — FreeMama Radio is AWESOME on its own, and when you add in the Ultimate Training Vault and the chance to win one of 5 $100 for an Amazon spree? WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?
What happens when you combine an obsession with helping women succeed and the workings of an introvert performer? You get content with personality!
I’m so excited for today’s episode because I’m having my very first guest on the podcast! Please allow me to introduce the NerdyGirl herself, Brittany Bullen! Author of the books “Personality Marketing: Join Your Industry’s A-List by Embracing Your Inner Nerd” and “The Crisis of the Ordinary: What to Do If You Secretly Wish for More Than What You’ve Got,” Brittany gets SUPER NERDY about helping her clients, students, and readers follow their enthusiasm in the direction of their dreams.
When she’s not wrangling her four boys at home, you’ll find her talking strategy and sales copy while mashing her clients’ “inner potatoes” until they’re magically delicious.
Brittany saw a need to help women market their talents and services so they can create a business that generates income. That need snowballed into something much larger than what she initially thought. Now she helps women create the marketing and mindsets they need to get everything they want out of life and business.
In Today’s Episode We Discuss:
How to show up with an authentic vibe
Doing what you love vs. getting paid to work
The birth of the ‘nerdy girl’
How she turned her process into a book
The superpower of persuasion
Disconnecting your self-worth from your business accomplishments and failures
The power of bringing your family into your vision
Figuring out what gives you the greatest fulfillment
The misconception with being an introvert performer in business
Structure of an effective marketing video
The value of joining a network community
The journey of entrepreneurship is a constant process of optimization. Brittany is proof that you don’t have to know everything before you start your business. Embracing your inner nerd is all about leveraging your enthusiasm and learning as you go.

Do you have a desire to make money from home? Years ago, my life consisted of constant exhaustion from work, toxic people, and long commutes. In this episode, I will reveal why so many “make money from home” opportunities fail us. I know they do, because I have tried them all. I will also talk about what I discovered that allowed me to quit my job and replace my income in less than a year, working half the hours. And I am lucky enough today to have successfully taught thousands of other moms to do the same.
If you’re into making money, while being an awesome mom, this is one episode you won’t want to miss!
In Today’s Episode We Discuss:
How the Free Mama got started
The impact that other people can have on your mental health

Why I believe freelancing is the path to success
